Appreciation of Loved Ones

Everyone has own unique relationship with their father. My unique and long lasting relationship with my late father is beyond his passing. He impacts me profoundly and his influences are likely passing to next generations in my life as well.

This writing is not to boast the greatness of my late father but simply a commemorating him as an individual who I admired and am willing to share with the readers after two years of his passing.

His legacy and wisdom is not limited to one recipient. Some words in this writing were composed when I spend the last months of his life journey with him at the Malacca GH Hospital. These writings genuinely reflect my inner feelings and pains of losing him a loved one, once a while in life.

I lost someone or something dear to me sometimes they are replaceable but sometimes they are not. For those irreplaceable losses sadness is not the solution we need to transform those pains and losses to something even more meaningful to individuals or to others.

He made many good examples for his children and others. Those who followed benefited in work, relationship, life, I believe. His expectations lay on what he taught us and he practiced them in his life as well words and actions are coherent in his case.

"I Love You Abah". Al-Fatihah.

From Son to Father…

No man is perfect, however rarely would anyone ever see what few lesser qualities my late father may have had. That is the mark of a true Gentleman, and how most who knew my late father will remember him. My late father was often not a man of many words, and few would ever have had a bad word about my late father.

My late father had a difficult start to life, my late father worked hard all his life, having left school to work at many places with the hope of becoming a somebody for his family. Unfortunately he grew a bit tall for that pursuit, however he never let a lack of education stand in the way of providing for his family. He grew up in some very hard times, and did not like to see things wasted "Might come in handy one day" was something he used to say, and he preferred make do with what he had, rather than buy something new.

My late father was a simple man who appreciated the simple joy's life offered. He reminisced recently about some of the fun times he had with his brother and sisters, in a time when the world was a more peaceful place. Warm, quiet, gentle and patient are some words that come to mind when thinking of my late father. He believed in fairness and wasn't someone to complain about things.

My late father loved his golf, having played for many years. He played his last game several days before going into Malacca General Hospital, so it's safe to say he played his favourite sport as long as he possibly could. At one stage his handicap was as low as 11, and my late father also had the joy of shooting a hole in one during his life. His favourite golf club at Air Keroh Country Club, Malacca.

My late father was a family man, and spent most of his time at home. Words cannot express what he meant to his family, and what his family meant to him. He had a loving wife who cared for him, and that care was exceptional during the last years and months of his life. Only Rohani and Yahaya can fully appreciate the depth of their bond formed over 30 years together.

To his three sons, my late father was an inspiration. No thanks could ever be enough for the countless things he did for Along, Angah & Adik over the years, except to try to be as good a Father. The lessons our Parents teach, without ever knowing it, help make us who we are today.

My late father had the joy of spending time almost every day with my mother, Rohani. It's impossible to express a man's life in these few words, but the gift my late father has given those that knew him throughout those years will live on. The sadness of losing my late father is great, as were the many good times shared with him.

I believe, my late father would wish us to remember those happy times. Finally, maybe when we see my late father favourite golf set, we'll smile to ourself in memory of a wonderful man, who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

"I hope that anyone reading this blog will, for a small moment in time, think about what my late father meant to me and know a little about his life".

"I love You Abah". Al-Fatihah.

Tribute To My Father

This was my first speech for my late Father.

My Father served the government for almost 20 years and Pantai Medivest Sdn Bhd for almost 10 years. He was everyone’s favorite friend & neighbour. Everybody calls him,
"Abang Tapah or Pak Yah"

My Father died, July 30, 2007. I am not very accustomed in making speeches & not very vocal about my emotions. But this time, I really want to express my feelings and talk about my Father.

If there are far more greater words to describe how my Father was then let me use it. But there’s really no need for words, because my Father’s life spoke loud and clear enough. What tribute can you pay a man whose whole life was a tribute. I don’t think there was anyone who knew him that didn’t like him. He was a good man, I was lucky to have him as my father.

When I was a kid, I used to see him wearing his uniform while carrying me in his arm… fetching me from school, because it is flooded and it made me feel very proud.

Another vivid memory of him was, when I went through the stage of being failed an exam, I was crying miserably. I stayed in my room all day. He came up to me, sat beside my bed and gave me comfort and advised me to let go & move on.

Not that my Father was perfect, But in my life, I never felt for a moment that he wasn’t there for me. He always supports me with my plans, Unfortunately he will not be physically present , to see my dreams being fulfilled.

I wouldn’t be able to see his face light up & would pat me on my head and say, "very good son, but don’t forget to thank the Allah for all His blessings". My father always made me strong to accept trials & sufferings in my life…
But his sudden loss made me realize that I am vulnerable, for this is the most painful & saddest thing that ever happened to me. But I know that my Father wouldn’t want me to see grieving...

I am going to miss him…

I love you "Abah", I will miss you, But will never forget who you are & will always talk about you and tell your grand children about their grandpa who always tried to give somethings in his life.

And to you "Abah"…

As a Father… Mission Accomplished

As a Golfer ... Hole In One

As a Retired Person
(Government and Pantai Medivest Sdn Bhd)

… Now go and be with Allah and Be in peace…

I Love you "Abah"… Al- Fatihah
